Preface: Be sure to read the post below this one (as you might have missed it, since I've published two in one day).
So...
We've explored several theories and ideas over the past couple of weeks. I'm not going to lie, it's been an overload of information. But you've definitely demonstrated a good understanding of complex concepts from heavy weight thinkers like Marshall McLuhan, Neil Postman and Sherry Turkle. I've enjoyed listening to you grapple with their ideas, conceptualize them, make connections with them, and bring up examples from your own knowledge and experience.
For Friday's class, you will be given the opportunity to pretend to be one of these experts, and answer questions from their perspective. It will be a great chance to review their ideas, and essentially study/prepare for the test coming next week.
Below, I would like you to comment on this post with questions that you would/could potentially ask any of these theorists. As moderator, I will use these questions in the eventual questions I compose for this mock panel. The questions should be focused on the course content. Challenge each other by coming up with difficult, reasonable and interesting questions. Each participant will answer, and often be asked to respond to what someone else said. Consider asking questions you are unsure of, and want to know more about (ex. In terms of “Plato’s Cave,” what would (Turkle, McLuhan, or Postman) say the shadows on the wall in the allegory are manifested by in their era?)
Note: Remember, check out the PCR post that has the instructions and list of who you will be asked to be during the panel discussion.
